Being the oldest political party, Indian National Congress turn 133 year old on December 28, 2017. Going through the tough time, the party is trying to compete by transforming itself and coming through challenging situation as Rahul Gandhi heads the party.

1. Indian National Congress Formed In 1884
Indian National Congress was formed by Allan Octavian Hume in 1884-85. In a private meeting with 17 other men Allan founded the party.
British had decide to enroll educated Indians into party, thus using it as a safety valve against the freedom struggle of India. However it was Mahatma Gandhi who gave life to Congress and turned the tables by making Congress as a means of freedom struggle.
2. First President of Indian National Congress
The first INC session was held from 28–31 December 1885 and was attended by 72 delegates. In this session Womesh Chandra Bonnerjee was elected as the first president of INC.
3. No Fame Till 1905
Almost no one support INC until year 1905. Party got fame only after Lord Curzon declared partion of Bengal. The Senior Congress leaders Surendranath Banerjee and Sir Henry Cotton made party active in Swadeshi movement.
